Stanford Journal(part 8)

This morning we went to the HARKER HIGH SCHOOL,it’s a great high school. We set off at 9:30, and arrived at about 10:00.

A teacher first lead us to the gym and told us they have 30 minutes time in the morning, on Monday they have the whole school meeting and on Tuesday they have grade meeting and on Wednesday and Friday they have ‘extra help’ ,it means they can asked any teacher for help. On Thursday they have group meetings each 10 students and 1 teacher is one group they help each other for 3 years. They meet to disuse some problems and things.

Then we went to the library,the art room,the labs ,the playground and the swimming pool. After that we had lunch in the campus.

In the afternoon we went to the apple store.Then we went to Cisco.

There are two people who lead us to look around part of the company. We each get a thing like telephone and listen to it, it tells you what Cisco is and what does it do. After these things the two employees told us about their experience when they first came to America.

Then we went back and have dinner in the lunge it’s good.

Good night , only 1 day left, I’m in love with here.

Stanford Jounal(part 7)

Hiking is one of my least favorite things but today with the beautiful views and the cute fresh air this trip becomes great.

Today we walked to ‘the Dish’ it’s a radio telescope. While we hike up the mountains we saw loads of cute little animals ,squirrels. They are really lovely. Walking on the hill you can see squirrels and lizard everywhere on the grass under the ground even on the running road. They were running digging and eating!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the afternoon, we have Tomohiro Hoshi’s lesson, he told us about the  Online High School. We can study lots of things and maybe graduate from there.We asked question and the teacher answered.It gave us lots of help.

Today is not very interesting but I’m looking forward to the next day!

Stanford Jounal(part 6)

High-tech today! What about having biotechnology and earth science in one day for about 5 hours? Probably not. But today we did it, isn’t it crazy? I love the biotechnology class but not the earth science class.

First we went to have biotechnology class, it’s kind of interesting. Bio means life and biology and technology is using human beings to do things, interesting?

First Mr. Sebastian (our teacher) told us about DNA,RNA and protein. He gave us an example: anti-body is a kind of protein and each kind of it can use us different parts.

Than the teacher told us a new high-tech word: methylation, he told us that the methylation can help the cells or other things know when to turn on or when to turn off. This thing act all nature and it control all our body and the environment and our body control it. It’s kind of amazing. If your body’s  some methylations turn on (bad ones) you will get disease or worse cancer.

He also told us what was he had work on : mouse, squirrel, ants and fish. He studies mouse for pain and studies squirrel for hibernation and studies ant for pdyphenism and their unbelievable change.

I am really interested in biology now.

In the afternoon we have earth science class. It’s not that interesting and really weird to me. But the teacher is really good and kind. Mrs. Kimball told us there are totally 3 kinds of rocks: seclimentary rocks, igneous rocks and sandy rocks. The teacher leaded us to see all kinds of rocks in the campus, it’s not that cool.

After these classes the boys (included a girl) played soccer and I had a great fun watching it.

Days past quickly and I love being here!!!!!

 

Stanford Jounal(part 5)

SHOPPING!!

Maybe you think that shopping are the girls’ favorite. But boys are crazy too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the morning, we first went to the ‘farm market’ and went to the ‘Starbucks’ to have some hot chocolate. Then we went to an electronic shop to buy  something. But I didn’t buy anything, cause everything cheap is made in china!!!!!!!!

Then after lunch we went to an gallery called ‘Stanford Art Gallery’ It’s quite well designed and quite beautiful and very modern. On the first floor there are some old art design, and on the second floor there are loads of beautiful and modern maybe little bit of crazy and unbelievable.

After these we went to the ‘Stanford Shopping Center’ to buy some thing. But I didn’t buy anything. I went to have dinner with my mom and dad’s friends: aunt Margret and her husband their parents and their grandson. We had a great fun and bought some candies in the supermarket.

It’s a good day, but really tired.

Stanford Jounal(part 4)

Today is a fun day. Diving in the bright blue sea, watching the creatures swimming around and enjoying the great ‘show’ of the shark or tunas or other small fishes in the fancy lights, that’s amazing!

We got there at 11o’ clock and first we saw the seahorses. The small and delicate creatures swimming in the glass tank and dancing beside the green and beautiful seaweed ,gracefully playing.

After that we walked to a huge fish tank with gallons of cold water in it, shining in the blue clam lights and swimming around. WOW! A huge tuna! The body of the tuna is kind of silver and glittering in the water. It is so cool, it swims quickly and go straight towards me, I was amazed!

The thing I love the most are the jelly fishes. They are cute lovely and kind of invisible. Their swim action is quite weird but absolutely beautiful. They were really light but harmful. Pretty looking creature also can harm people, so that reminds me beauty is also a sign of danger.

Sea stars are quite cute but little bit disgusting. I touch them, some are like skins but some are like rocks. It’s colors are bright and pretty!

Loving these beautiful creatures and loving this trip!

Stanford Journal(part 3)

Today is our third day in Stanford. In the morning, we walk to another creative writing lesson. It’s more interesting, Mrs. Farnoosh Fathi taught us this lesson today, we had such a great fun.

Frist, she asked us to answer three questions in order to know ourselves.

• What’s your name and what’s the meaning of it.
• Bees are scary or soft
•  What’s your favourite actor or other artist?

How interesting these question was! We each answer two of the questions and we learned from others and know some ‘secret’ of each other. Than we read some pome written by some poor and un-education children, the pomes were truly beautiful. Just like this one. I was so moved:

“the choir enters and he director screams”

“‘sing with more terror!!'”

After that we tired to let our minds float lightly in the air, through the dust of the world, and head straight in to the sky, act like a god, seeing everything in an eye.

We thought of everything in the world and let it connected together. It’s an hard but cheerful time.

Than we create our “sonnet” ,it’s a kind of pome that with 5 idmsic pentameter it’s quite interesting! Here is mine:

“There was a ghost in Stanford”

“Who love to kick the old door”

“He came towards”

“To start a war”

“Cause he just want to be the lord.”

Isn’t that crazy, but that’s absolutely fun!

After lunch we went back to have our video game design.This time is much interesting than yesterday.We made some programs on http://www.openpressing.com , it’s an cool website. We can make our little games on it on order to show other users to see and share your own creative things. We make “the bouncing ball “and some other things.

We also played in the water, to have fun. THAT’S COOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After these great things today is perfect1

Stanford Day 2(part 2)

In the afternoon,we have our first video game design lesson.We have our lesson right outside of our dormitory. We each use a computer,and create our own blog. It’s on ivanashen.wordpress.com (advertisement,ha ha) !

The teacher ,Miss Chen told us how to create this and let us to write our journal one it. We also change the appearance one the blog ,in order to make it attractive and quite funny. We tried to post some passage we wrote on it , but we mostly failed. And we also post some photos of Stanford one it.

“Have your snack”a voice came from the teacher. We were all surprised when we heard it. We had it happily.

Then we watched the boys playing soccer,and we jumped rope together, the sun was really bright and in the evening we still play games and had a really good day!

Stanford Writing Class(creating writing)

This morning, we had our first writing class——creating writing.The teacher is call Mr.Siegel and  he is a writer.

First he told us lots of thing about creative:

BLOCKS TO CREATIVE WRITING:

self-conscious, perfectionism,intellect,being locked to belief,FAME game

WAYS TO HELP CREATIVE

become a child again,be ready to learn,find”nirvana” in the ordinary,become a dreamer

After these, he told us to write down two person’s details,such as: ways of speaking, mannerisms, loves, appearance,attitude,qualities, fears, hobbies, ages, gender and other things.I wrote my grandpa and my middle school classmates,it’s fun. Then chose 2 things from each person,and makes it in to a new funny one.

After that we read a great story, wrote some passages and finish the class.

Stanford Journal

Day 1 8.14

Today is our first day at Stanford.We do lots of things in this wonderful day. It starts from 6:50.We clean our room.We  going out to have breakfast at Stanford.

After we had this great breakfast we go  around the campus to see the buildings and other places.We went to a lake without water.We also see some beautiful places and so on.

In the afternoon,we had a math class,but mainly games. It’s lots of fun.

We play UNO in the evening and then we went to sleep.
